Liza Lim: Ensemble premieres in Strasbourg & Lucerne

Under direction from Pierre Bleuse, the Ensemble intercontemporain presented the world premiere of Liza Lim’s Tailor of Time at Festival Musica, Strasbourg. In November, Lucerne Festival Forward will premiere Multispecies Knots of Ethical Time, another work in which Liza Lim explores the theme of time.

Lim: world premiere of Annunciation Triptych

Along with Sex Magic, a large work for for contrabass flute, live electronics and an installation of kinetic instruments, written for Claire Chase, there is the Annunciation Triptych for orchestra, which is being given its world premiere at the Achtbrücken Festival in Cologne, with soprano Emily Hindrichs and the WDR Sinfonieorchester conducted by Cristian Măcelaru.

Lim: 30 years with Ricordi – WP of Annunciation Triptych

30 years ago, programme booklets were still written with typewriters and Ricordi still had its own record label (Dischi Ricordi). It was also 30 years ago that Liza Lim first had works published by Ricordi – Garden of Earthly Desire and Voodoo Child – on the recommendation of conductor Sandro Gorli.

Finnish Winter: Lim, Shin and Streich in Helsinki

Korean composer Donghoon Shin will see a premiere with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra under Osmo Vänskä. At the same time, Musica Nova will present a number of works by Lisa Streich (another ricordilab laureate). Another focal point of the festival will be Australian composer Liza Lim, whose orchestral work Extinction Events and Dawn Chorus will be performed in Finland for the first time.
